i am tired and just want to go back to bed. i am thirsty, but already full of water. this is what happens when i drink beer all night. ugh.
luckily its not busy at work. just me in my fridge. yes i said in. i love my fridge. it keeps me cool and fresh.
while waiting to pick up fail natkins yesterday from his place of work following a 24 hr shift (yeah, thats what i thought!) so we could get some beers and i could feel crap today, i was parked on fort street outside some shitty cafe. there was a strange fellow in tight black jeans, grey shirt with no logo and grey beanie. he was just sitting in a very uncomfortable looking chair reading a book. i think theyre called "hipsters"
i got to thinking: why read here? surely a park is more scenic. and more comfortable than that chair. he could probably get that coffee to go too. maybe hes not reading just hanging out to check out chicks? typical tanned town trash walks by, nope, doesnt look up. keeps reading. he MUST be doing it for scene points. reading in a cafe by yourself makes you look sophisticated and intelligent. is that right? it must be, otherwise he would just read at home. i ponder approaching and asking his opinion on the whipping cats. but i glance away for a second and hes GONE, like a stinky skinny whisper in the wind. i am a bit miffed i didnt see what broke him away from his book, he was pretty into it.

and just like that, another ridiculous amount of time passing in between posts. i am conflicted as to why i update this thing, most people have drifted to facebook, but on some level its a comforting chronological timeline of my life for the past 9 years for the inevitable day when i succumb to the never ending fear of one day waking up and having no sense of who you you are or where youve been. then again its not like i havent had the time, being unemployed and everything.
oh yeah, thats right. i got made redundant about 5 weeks ago. or was it 6? i can't remember. one of those "bah that wont happen to me! dont be silly!" situations. i should have known how much an ironic chaotic bitch the universe could be, but thems the bends. when i got the news from my company they just paid me out for the next 4 weeks and said to take the time and find something else. and while ive had a few very interesting bites, the competition out there is quite fierce - to the point where though i am told while i have made it to the next round of interviews, companies are having a hard time processing the sheer amount of applicants.. separating the worthy from the not. in the meantime i have returned to my friends at the ports of auckland who have been feeding me a comfortable contractors rate and given me free reign to find my next place employment. VERY cool of them. coupled with another contracting gig i have next week at a very chunky rate, it turns out i am saving more towards a house now than when i was gainfully employed! i was expecting to be living off noodles, failing to pay rent and giving up alcohol. well, maybe the first two. theres always jurejs questionable moonshine and greasy payment plan.
so i sit home, refresh facebook, play wii, study for my next IT qualification, and rewatch trailer park boys with Ember. i let the stress melt off me. its good to be a bit of a bum after all this time - i havent had time off a job for more than a week since... damn, i actually dont know. a good 5 years though. feels very studentish and good. especially compared to some people who, after many years of being in the same shit job with no upward mobility, are still tired and frustrated at their meager little life. |

last night I had a dream. I was late for an important meeting out of town and for some reason I was dropping the RX8 off in the parking lot of a park outside the university. upon exiting the car I was vaguely aware that it was still running but for some reason thought this was ok and went to get on the plane. Anyways the business meeting was wierd and it involved me presenting a new plush toy character for a movie which was a comatose badger in a wheelchair but it seemed to go quite well. anyways i was walking back through the park after getting back to town and realizing "oh no i left my car running this entire time! it will have been stolen by now or out of gas!" it was still there, but the keys had been removed from the ignition, and filled throuought the car where all these tiny puzzle pieces. some strange italian guy came up and said if i want the keys back i must solve the puzzle. unfortunately upon completing the puzzle i woke up so i never found my car keys.
however, the picture on the puzzle was horrifyingly familiar. |

it occurs to me i haven't updated this thing in about 2 months. what have i been doing?
- moving house. dexter has long been in the past, and me and the jared have been organizing non-stop getting the many items of our new and far superior property organized so its all new and shiny. free i might add. but the backyard still looks like a brazillian clear-cut operation and theres chopped down bamboo and vegetation everywhere, the outside still needs to be water blasted, steps to be painted, garage needs to be repaied, its a lot of work.
- have 2 new flatmates kaori (cute japanese girl) and nick (another nick to get confused about? yay thats 6 total!) who are awesome. chris is moving his hearse into the garage to pay me extra rent. kaori thinks i should shave my head to fit in with jared, nick, and chris, who are all bald. i dont think kaori realizes what she is joking about, cuz i am the only thing that stands between somewhat normalcy and this flat being known as "those bunch of skinheads on goring road"
- i have recently celebrated 3 months of relationshipness with Ember, who is very cute and understanding of all my social faux pas and personality quirks. cheers babe!
- who would have thought work could get MORE busy? i have had to chop off msn completely and all but ignore facebook. if you need to get ahold of me at work the best way to do it is text or email.

| concert week in review |

Tuesday: NIN. awesomely average, or averagley awesome. its one of the two. i had a good time and was psyched for most of the concert, but in retrospect thought reznor could have done much better, considering he knew this was going to be "the last NIN gig in NZ ever". which, BTW, is a really stupid thing to say at the end of your show if you dont want to get booed off the stage. trent reznor? moar like trent rez-snore amirite guyz? HAHA. see what i did there? what a fat guy.
Friday: Iron Maiden. now, ive never really been the biggest fan of iron maiden, 80s hair metal, or metal in general, but this was one of the most epic things i have ever been to. awesome action, the old dudes running around everywhere up to old antics and guitar swinging tricks, wicked pyro (srsly, i had to check a couple times to make sure i still had eyebrows), kickass props (like eddie i think his name is - a 2 story tall animatronic zombie like guy with a fucking LAZER), long show and 3 (or 4?) song encore, and a huge crowd of people. oh and a nice amount of drizzley rain to keep the crowd heat down. would definately see again. anyone who is kinda "yeah ive heard of them but havent really listened to maiden before" - fuck it, just see it for the show. you wont be dissapointed.

today i am 29, and thanks to that party we threw last night i am feeling every hour of those years. wasnt as epic as canada party but it was still a pretty epic event :D thanks to all who came and gave me gifts etc even though i told you jerks not to!
alastair, brendan and rasha are currently getting their movenpick on in mission bay but thanks to rashas delicious stack of 3pm waffles i am unable to fit ice cream calories into my belly. fail!
now wheres that redhed girl and her online presence, i require soppy and dodgy msn conversation immediately!
EDIT: fuck i forgot about friday friday night! me lyuba and rasha went to spookers. i had no idea they changed around every attraction every year! finally got to go into corn evil, that is an amazing experience. 3d vortex was incredible. anyone whos been to spookers in the past couple years and has a "meh, been there done that" opinion of the place? go again, you wont be disappointed |
